DISCARDED shopping trolleys across Ellesmere Port are being collected by students and returned to the stores they came from.
The students, from Cheshire College South and West, are aiming to promote a clean and healthy town and have decided to tackle the rogue shopping trolley issue which blights areas of the town.
They began collecting to the trolleys on Wednesday and are aiming to continue their efforts this week.
Spokesperson for the group, Sam Ridgway said: “We have noticed that there are absolutely loads of shopping trollies dotted all over Ellesmere Port.
“In our lunch break we have decided to return these trollies back to their correct shops.
“Many of us use the bus at Ellesmere Port and the bus station has been used as the key dumping ground for shopping trolleys – sometimes there are more trollies than buses!
“It was just simply very unsightly, so we did something about it.”
