PASSENGERS were evacuated from a train at Wilmslow Station last night (Wednesday, February 22) after a carriage caught fire.
A fire engine arrived at the scene on Station Road at around 9.01pm. Firefighters entered the train, using hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for further hotspots and the carriage was dampened down and made safe. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Both police and Network Rail attended the incident.
