THERE are long delays on the M56 motorway this morning due to a vehicle fire.
The incident has been reported on the eastbound side of the carriageway between Junctions 14 (Chester Services/Hapsford) and Junction 12 (Runcorn) today (Monday, October 9).
Two of the three lanes have been closed as a result, and traffic on the eastbound side is building up beyond Junction 15 (M53 Interchange).
There is also heavy traffic on the westbound side of the carriageway, with queues stretching as far back as Junction 11 (Preston Brook).
Motorists are being urged to plan extra time for their journey, with National Highways saying at 8.50am that motorists were experiencing 90 minutes of delays.
