THREE fire crews were called out to an incident on the M56 this afternoon, Thursday.
Two fire engines from Runcorn and one from Lymm attended the scene on the M56 east between junctions 12 and 11 at about 1.20pm today (January 18).
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The engine bay of a car was heavily involved in fire on the hard shoulder.
"Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze and fended off traffic from the hard shoulder and lane one until police and highways arrived at the scene.
"Once the fire was out crews continued to cool the engine bay and vehicle recovery was organised."
