MORE than half of all adults in Cheshire West and Chester have now had both doses of a Covid vaccine.
Latest available Government figures showed that 50.1 per cent of the adult CWaC population had received both required jabs, as of the end of Saturday, June 5.
Breaking down by age groups, more than 90 per cent of those aged 70 or above have now had both vaccine doses, compared to more than 80 per cent for those aged 60 or above, 50 per cent for those aged 50 and above.
A total of 73 per cent of adults have received at least one Covid vaccine.
The number of cases in recent days has soared in the borough. Cheshire West and Chester Council said there had been an outbreak in Northwich and Winsford involving the more transmissible Delta variant.
Data also shows a significant portion of those testing positive for Covid are for those aged 15-19 – accounting for about 70 of the 193 cases in one week.
The number of cases recorded is showing how effective two doses of the Covid vaccine can be; in the most recent week of available data, there have been 180 positive cases recorded in those aged 0-59, compared to 13 in those aged 60 and above.
