Chester Boughton Hall look to register back-to-back victories when they host Didsbury at Filkins Lane on Saturday.
Rick Moore’s sublime unbeaten 96 helped Hall wrap up a convincing nine-wicket win over Bramhall last week, after Charlie Fleet’s 4-61 helped restrict Bramhall to 192 for seven.
Although hopes of retaining the league title now look to be increasingly slim, skipper Will Owen is confident the Chester outfit can continue where they left off and have a strong second-half to the campaign.
“Good to beat Bramhall last week with some disciplined cricket - both with bat and ball,” Owen said.
“We go into the second half of the season well placed, fourth in the table and unlucky not to have a few points more from games that we were agonisingly close to winning.
“Saturday sees Didsbury come to Chester and whilst they’re not having the best of seasons, we’ll take nothing for granted. Nick Anderson leads his men well, so we’ll need to be prepared.
“Sunday is back to Cheshire Cup action with Timperley visiting us. They’ll be Cheshire players missing from both sides so a few youngsters on show.
“As holders we’re be scrapping all the way. We’ve come quite attached to this trophy winning it five times out of the last six years.”
Bramhall head to Grappenhall, Nantwich host Alderley Edge, while Neston host Cheadle.
Timperley entertain Oulton Park and Marple head to Toft.
Upton bid to get their Division One title push back on track when they travel to Widnes.
Tom Marsland’s side suffered a crushing 127-run defeat at Oxton last week and could now be forced to focus on the battle to finish second and gain an instant return to the top tier, with Hyde having jumped ahead into top spot.
Struggling Barrow desperately need wins soon if they are to avoid the drop and they head to Bollington.
Other Division One fixtures: Bowdon v Macclesfield; Oxton v Urmston; Sale v Davenham; Stockport v Hyde.
In Division Two, it’s fifth against sixth as Christleton make the short hop over to Alvanley.
The Little Heath outfit are 19 points behind Alvanley heading into the encounter, with Chris Charles’ hosts having lost ground on those above them last week with a 128-run loss at Hale Barns.
