ANOTHER entertaining Chester and District Midweek League season has drawn to a close.
There were 10 games across four divisions left to mop up during the final week of the campaign with Division One title winners Tarporley finishing on a high.
The champions posted 122 for six against Kingsley Knights, who were restricted to 112 for four in reply as they were beaten by 10 runs.
Tarporley (69-1) followed that success up with a nine-wicket win against Marchwiel and Wrexham Outlaws (65-5).
Runners-up Red Lion (134-6) were four-wicket winners against Academicals (133-7), Mike Todt hitting a half century.
Division Two runners-up, Chester Lions, won one and lost the other of their two matches over the final week.
Lions (162-5) overcame champions Brymbo Brewers (139-7) by 23 runs, but were beaten by West Cheshire Xbatters, who lost four wickets compared to their visitors' six after both teams scored 155 runs.
Xbatters then conceded their clash with Saughall, who were also handed the points by Golden Eagle after they failed to raise a side.
Eagle (132-4) fell to a five-wicket defeat at Cornerhouse (135-5) in their other game of the week.
In Division Three, Cross Keys (102-7) were 28-run winners at Gresford, who were bowled out for just 74, while in Division Six, Chester Taverners (127-6) beat MP Plumbing (126-4) by four wickets.
