RICK MOORE knows Chester Boughton Hall can’t afford any slip-ups in their five-game title countdown.
With Neston breathing down their necks, Hall head to Widnes on Saturday 35 points clear at the top of the Cheshire County League Premier Division.
“It was important we beat Timperley last weekend but with Neston winning, we can’t afford to slip up,” said Hall captain Moore.
“We may be 35 points clear but there are still five games to go. We go to Widnes and that will be a tough trip. We only managed to tie with them at our place earlier in the season and they’ve recently beaten Alderley Edge too.
“Sunday’s Cheshire Cup win over Elworth sets us up nicely for a semi-final with New Brighton and with us also getting to the Liverpool Echo T20 semi, it’s a busy old time.”
Moore and his top order batsmen must watch for Widnes’ Majid Majeed, whose 38-wicket haul this season puts him on top of the best bowler list.
Hall’s Jack Williams is only three wickets behind Majeed with Neston’s Ash Davis just one off top spot.
And former Hall paceman Davis will be a key man again for the Parkgate-based side when they host Cheadle.
Timperley’s defeat at Filkins Lane last week has seriously dented their outside hopes of glory.
They host Oulton Park while fourth-placed Alderley Edge entertain bottom club Grappenhall.
Nantwich head to Hyde while Marple need a home win against Toft in their bid to beat the drop.
In Division Two, Christleton visit Mobberley and Barrow are also on the road at Congleton.
Tattenhall have a derby date at home to Alvanley while in Division Four of the Shropshire League, leaders Westminster Park go to Wistaston Village while Saughall welcome Kerridge.
In Division Three, Chester County Officers have home advantage against Over Peover.
