FOUR Chester Boughton Hall players are chasing top awards this season but one of them, captain Rick Moore, has insisted winning the Cheshire County League Premier Division title remains the number one priority.
Hall head into tomorrow’s home clash with Alderley Edge 32 points clear of Neston with four games to go.
Moore is second in the top division’s leading run scorers’ list with 777 - 80 behind the top man, Neston’s Will Evans while Hall’s Warren Goodwin is third on 617.
Spinner Jack Williams and opening bowler Lloyd Aspin are among the top wicket-takers.
Neston’s former Hall bowler Ash Davis (39) leads the way with Williams (36), Aspin (32) and Widnes’ Majid Majeed (39) the main challengers.
“It’s not about individuals,” said Moore, who will be demanding a much better all-round performance from his side after last weekend’s slip-up against Widnes.
“We’re just pleased to be competing as well as we are. Anything else is a bonus but the great thing about this season is that there have been great contributions across the side.”
Neston also stumbled last week as they were thwarted by Cheadle and the Parkgate-based club must beat champions Nantwich away to maintain their challenge.
“It was disappointing to lose at Widnes last weekend but we came out of it okay, effectively dropping three points to Neston,” added Moore.
“It’s important we get back to winning ways against Alderley Edge this weekend. It’s a big game. We just have to get our heads down and worry about ourselves. If we keep winning we’re be fine.
“Jamie Crawley is still out injured so it’s likely we’ll be looking to have Noah Vickery step up to the plate again.”
Cheadle host Marple, Hyde go to bottom club Grappenhall, Oulton Park welcome Widnes and Toft entertain Timperley.
In Division Two, Tattenhall beat Alvanley in last week’s derby date and they’ll be eyeing up another local success at Barrow, for whom Iroshan De Silva is the man in form.
Christleton and Alvanley are both at home to Northwich and Stockport respectively.
Westminster Park will be looking to close in on the Cheshire League Division Four title with a home win over Trafford Metrovics.
Saughall go to Bowdon Vale in the same league while in Division Three, Chester County Officers head to Cholmondeley.
