CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL could clinch the Cheshire County League Premier Division title this weekend.
If results go their way like they did a week ago, Rick Moore’s men could wrap things up with a victory at bottom club Grappenhall.
While Hall were chasing 234 to win at home to Alderley Edge last Saturday, nearest rivals Neston were being nailed by Nantwich.
That means Hall, who are also chasing silverware in the Cheshire Cup and Liverpool Knockout Trophy, go into tomorrow’s game 48 points clear with three games of the season remaining.
“The win against Alderley Edge was probably the best league win of the season - one great chase 24 hours before another from Ben Stokes!” said captain Moore.
“Charlie Fleet gets better and better and did the damage with the ball taking 5-64 but even so, Alderley Edge’s 232 looked a tricky chase.
“Alex Money batted superbly and bossed the game to finish on 98 not out. He’s been building up to this and now gets his county reward as he’s set to make his Cheshire first team debut at Thame against Oxfordshire.”
Neston will need to bounce back at third-placed Hyde if they are going to stop Chester’s charge while Timperley’s chase for a top-three finish continues at home to Cheadle.
Alderley Edge host Oulton Park, Nantwich go to Marple and Widnes welcome Toft.
Titles are also up for grabs for Hall Seconds and Thirds teams.
The Seconds host Grappenhall, 14 points clear of Oulton Park in the 2nd XI Premier Division while in Division B West, the Thirds are just six points in front of Cholmondeley heading into their derby date at Barrow Seconds.
Division Four leaders Westminster Park could clinch the title in another derby game at Saughall while in Division Three, Chester County Officers are at home to Wirral.
In Division Two of the County League, Christleton and Tattenhall have home advantage against Hale Barns and Lindow respectively while Barrow head to Northwich and Alvanley visit Warrington.
