Gary Roberts has signed a new one-year deal with hometown club Chester.
The 31-year-old midfielder joined the Blues on a short-term deal in January and impressed with his range of passing and tenacious nature in the middle of the park, despite the Blues woes on the pitch which culminated in relegation.
Roberts has been subject to interest from Guiseley, now jointly-managed by former Blues boss Marcus Bignot, but the Blacon-born player has penned a new contract with Chester under the stewardship of co-managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson.
Speaking earlier this week, Johnson said: "Gary Roberts is a player we want to keep at the club and I’m hopeful something will be done.
“We want characters in our changing room, we want loads of them, and Gary fits the bill, he’s got something about him.
“We set high standards and we want people who are going to buy into what myself and Bernard demand of the players.
“Gary is also a top footballer let’s not forget. He’s played at a really high standard earlier in his career and he’s someone we want on board.”
