AN Ellesmere Port swimming teacher said she was "overwhelmed" to win a national accolade.

Donna Keenan has won the Puddle Ducks National Teacher of the Term Award due to her outstanding work teaching pre-school and Swim Academy swimming lessons.

Donna, who has been teaching for Puddle Ducks since 2013, was nominated by the children and parents she teaches due to her dedication, positivity and encouragement.

All nominees wanted to thank her for all the enthusiasm, patience and support she gives to their children and the parents.

One delighted parent commented in their nomination: “As I am deaf, Donna has always made sure that I am involved.

"She has even learnt some basic sign language, including Puddle Duck’s songs, which I was so impressed with because I can often miss out on little things like that. This support and clear communication helps me to really enjoy going to lessons with my daughter.”

Donna commented on her achievement: “It all started when I brought my two sons to swimming lessons with Puddle Ducks, we loved every minute of it, so in 2013, I decided to join the team and train as a swimming teacher and I’ve never looked back.

"I am overwhelmed to have been chosen as the National Teacher of the Term. I never thought I would ever be considered for the award, let alone win!

"Children are at the centre of what we do, and I want to provide a fantastic experience to suit every child’s needs.”
