A POPULAR Ellesmere Port restaurant has announced that it has closed for good.
The Galley, based in South Pier Road near to the Boat Museum, revealed on Wednesday evening (May 20) that it will not be reopening its doors having shut due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The restaurant, which was run by Thomas Acton, has thanked customers for their support over the past four years.
The premises was formerly occupied for many years by the South African restaurant, Jabula.
A post on The Galley's Facebook page announcing the permanent closure has had more than 600 responses, with scores of people expressing their sadness at the shock news.
It said: "The Galley will not be reopening, we are now closed for good. Big thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past four years.
"We can't stress enough how thankful we are and we wish you and your families all the best for the future.
"Big love and appreciation for every single person who came through our door."
