AN Ellesmere Port mum-of-three who was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago has written a book about her overcoming the challenges in her life.
Sara Crosland, 45, who runs her photography studio in Ellesmere Port, will have her new book Sickbed To Summits, published on October 1.
In 2018, Sara was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumour, or more specifically, an acoustic neuroma.
A quick internet search revealed the terrifying prospect of surgery and a myriad of potentially life-changing and permanent side effects.
Sara made the decision to face the numerous, unwelcome obstacles with a new-found determination.
She worked on developing resilience and a positive mindset to reclaim as much of her life as she possibly could; perhaps to even to achieve her life-long dreams.
Sickbed to Summits documents Sara’s remarkable journey through both triumph and disaster, as she details the treatment, life-threatening complications and an extraordinary recovery to fulfil her quest for not only for a normal life, but beyond, to the challenge and adventure that awaits her.
Professor Simon Lloyd, consultant neurotologist and professor of otolaryngology, said of Sara: "An amazing role model to those having to go through similar treatment."
Sara is on a mission to empower any individual who is facing a challenge, no matter what that challenge may be.
Known for her straight-talking, humorous and inspirational approach, Sara has become a sought-after speaker for conferences, charity and corporate events.
She is a passionate advocate for raising the awareness of brain tumours and hidden disabilities, and continues to take on challenges to fundraise for her chosen causes.
Back in July, she took on the Sandstone Trail to raise money for the charity Brain Tumour Research.
The gruelling challenge saw her pound the 35-mile path, following sandstone ridges from Whitchurch just over the Shropshire border, to Frodsham in Cheshire.
The route, which involved a 1,268-metre ascent, took Sara just over 11 hours to complete.
She said: "I’ve come such a long way in two years, having been determined from the start to not let this experience get the better of me.
"Developing a positive mindset and setting goals has helped me overcome adversity to fulfil my dreams.”
- Sickbed To Summits will be available to buy from Amazon, in Paperback and Kindle format, from October 1.
