A FORMER wine bar and restaurant in Chester city centre is set to be turned into a bridal store.
The Grade II listed Northgate Street premises vacated by Docket No.64 earlier this year has been taken over by new business, My Funny Valentine Bridal.
The bridal boutique is set to open in January next year and is currently taking appointment bookings on its website.
The owner has had a listed building consent application approved today (November 24) by Cheshire West and Chester Council for various minor interior and exterior alterations to the premises.
They include re-painting the exterior timber shop front and associated rendering to the ground floor, new business signage and hanging sign board, replacement of tiles on the steps as well as all ironmongery with gold finished fittings, and internal refurbishment.
The planning application states: "The aim of the project is to create a space to accommodate a bridal boutique that will sell wedding gowns and accessories by implementing a shop fit out.
"The property is currently in a sound condition, requires no structural changes and minimal intervention to the fabric."
In a report recommending approval, case officer Robert Lester said: "The application site is the retail unit located at 64 Northgate Street, Chester which is a Grade II Listed Building.
"The application is for various minor internal and external alterations to the listed building. The works would conserve the significance of the listed building and would not harm its special architectural or historic interest."
