A YOUNG man who led police on a 103mph pursuit from Chester towards Northwich is to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court.
Matthew York, 23, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink-driving when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 5.
The court heard the offences were so serious the case would be sent to Chester Crown Court on February 2 for sentencing.
A third charge of failing to stop was withdrawn by the prosecution.
Prosecuting, Rhys Hughes said York, of Church Street, Davenham, Northwich, was told by police to stop in Nicholas Street, Chester, at 1.40am on December 20.
Initially, York stopped at traffic lights but then drove off.
Police pursued York, who was driving a Mercedes with a personalised number plate, in wet weather conditions and recorded a speed of 103mph as York persistently broke the speed limit as he drove out of Chester and up Kelsall Hill.
The pursuit ended when York's Mercedes was boxed in by two police cars in School Lane, Sandiway.
York gave a positive breath test at the roadside and was arrested.
He gave a reading of 46 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.
York, who had no previous convictions, was handed unconditional bail and given an interim driving ban.
A pre-sentence report is to be obtained.
