A WOMAN from Chester has breached Covid restrictions by taking her dog out for a walk after testing positive for the virus.
Police said she would now receive a fine for the "blatant breach" of the coronavirus rules.
If you test positive for the virus you must self-isolate for 10 days.
The woman told officers she was aware of the restrictions.
Cheshire Constabulary said: "A report was received that a woman from Chester had failed to self-isolate after testing positive for coronavirus
"Officers attended the address on Tuesday, February 2 and found that the woman had left her home to walk her dog after receiving a positive test result.
"They engaged and explained with the woman who admitted that she was aware of the restrictions in place and the requirement for her to stay at home for 10 days.
"Due to this blatant breach, the woman will receive a fixed penalty notice.
"We are in a health emergency and the rules are clear. Police officers are risking their lives to help support local communities and keep us safe.
"Now more than ever it is important to self-isolate when instructed to in order to help stop the spread of the virus, protect the NHS and save lives."
