CHESTER Town Hall and Newgate will be illuminated orange for two nights from tomorrow (Monday, April 26).
The move is being made to help raise awareness of acute myeloid leukaemia, with the help of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s street lighting team.
Buildings and attractions around the world have also been lit up in support of Azaylia Diamond Cain, who died from the aggressive form of leukaemia.
Ex-Coventry City player Ashley Cain and partner Safiyya Vorajee were told their eight-month old baby daughter’s brain tumour cannot be treated.
Niagara Falls, CN Tower in Toronto, Gateshead Milliennium Bridge and Blackpool Tower are among the buildings that have been lit orange to raise awareness of the disease.
Maria Byrne, the council’s director of environment and communities, said: “I’m pleased our street lighting team has been able to arrange this, to honour all families facing this rare and aggressive disease.
"We hope that our support helps to raise further awareness of acute myeloid leukaemia and the moving story of Azaylia Cain's battle with this disease."
