SPECTATORS returned to Chester Racecourse on Saturday for the first time in more than a year.
Having been forced to hold race meetings behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the famous old track welcomed back a reduced crowd of 4,000 for Roman Day (May 29).
The Standard was on hand to capture some of the action as well as the fun being had in the stands.

Chester Racecourse posted on Facebook after the race meeting: "It’s been a great day at Chester Races.
"From memory making wins to delicious food and celebration drinks, it has been wonderful to open our doors to the public again."
- The next race meeting is on Saturday, June 12.
