CHESTER FC'S opening game of their National League North season is in doubt after several members of the first-team squad have tested positive for Covid-19.
The club confirmed the news in a statement on its website on Tuesday, August 10.
The Blues are due to face Curzon Ashton on Saturday in what would be the first game of the season.
A club spokesperson said: "The health and safety of everyone at the club remains our paramount concern and those players affected are now isolating and we wish them a quick and safe recovery.
"The National League and Curzon Ashton have been notified and we await a decision on whether this weekend’s fixture will go ahead.
"We will provide an update as soon as further information becomes available."
The outbreak comes after Blues co-boss Anthony Johnson had been treated in hospital for Covid. He was discharged on August 2 and has since been recovering at home.
