THE eagerly-anticipated opening of a new 'micropub' in Ellesmere Port has had to be delayed.
Bondies Bar on Chester Road, Whitby, was due to pull its first pint on Monday, August 16.
However, the 60-person capacity venue has been forced to delay its launch due to 'unforeseen events'.
A new opening date will be announced soon.
Bondies Bar confirmed on social media: "Due to unforeseen events we will have to delay the opening date announced.
"We are extremely sorry about this and are working restlessly to open the doors for you as soon as possible."
The Standard visited the new venue recently to meet the man behind the bar – and the exciting new venture – as the finishing touches are made to the 60-person capacity establishment.
Dave Thomas, born and bred in the town, says it's been a lifelong dream to run his own pub and is feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension ahead of the opening.
"I'm really looking forward to welcoming the locals", he said. "There is one who goes past every day and stops for a chat. He's already chosen his seat by the door!"
