The vaccines are available to all as a first dose and as a second dose to those who have already one dose of the same vaccine, providing there is an eight-week gap between doses.

Vaccines, particularly Pfizer, are issued for as long as the daily supply lasts and so may run out before the advertised closing time.

No appointment is necessary to attend any of the free mobile clinics.

The NHS also has a link available to static vaccination clinics which are also offering walk in vaccinations at https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-walk-in-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-site

Appointments can also be pre-booked for alternative venues through the National Booking Service either online at: www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by phoning: 119.

  • Free walk-in Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are available from Cheshire West and Chester Council’s own mobile pop-up COVID-19 testing units which will be in Ellesmere Port, Mickle Trafford and Winsford next week.

Note that the testing centres will not be open on Bank Holiday Monday 30 August.

As of 31 August, the pop-up testing units will be located at:

  • Public Car Park, near to Iceland Food Warehouse, Mercer Walk, 56-58 The Port Arcades, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0AP open every day from 9am to 4pm, Tuesday 31 August - Friday 3 September
  • Hoole Tennis Club, School Lane, Mickle Trafford CH2 4EF open from 9am to 3.30pm, Tuesday 31 August
  • Greville Drive, opposite Catalan Close, Winsford CW7 3EP open each day Wednesday 1 September - Friday 3 September

The current approach to testing in the borough is not part of a surge testing programme but is in response to testing where COVID-19 rates are relatively high.

The pop-up testing units will provide a free LFT test to anyone who does not have any COVID-19 symptoms. This type of test is good at picking up people who have no symptoms but are infected with COVID-19 and so may be unknowingly spreading the disease.

The Government recommends that everyone tests for COVID-19 twice a week regardless of whether they have been vaccinated. Free home test kits are readily available at participating local pharmacies or online and are also available to collect at the pop-up testing units.
