WHEELCHAIR basketball player Billy Bridge is another step closer to winning a medal at the Paralympic Games after Great Britain defeated Canada to book their semi-final spot.
The 26-year-old from Ellesmere Port, who featured twice for Team GB in the group stage, was one of three unused substitutes in the 66-52 quarter-final victory today.
The win means Billy and his teammates now prepare for a semi-final battle with either Australia – who they have already beaten earlier in the competition – or Japan on Friday.
If Great Britain can successfully negotiate that fixture, they will play in the gold medal match on Sunday (September 5). A defeat would see Team GB compete for bronze on the same day.
