The UK's top ten favourite wines have been revealed in a new survey, with Pinot Grigio being crowned as the nation's favourite.

This was followed by Chardonnay in second place and Sauvignon Blanc in third.

The survey of 2,000 British wine drinking adults was commissioned to celebrate the launch of new realistic winemaking simulator ‘Hundred Days’ which is now available on IOS and Android.

While Pinot Grigio is the ultimate variant according to British and Welsh adults, overall tastes also vary across the different nations with Scots preferring a Sauvignon Blanc and the Irish a Chardonnay.

Additionally, the study explored how how tastes change throughout the year, with Rose favoured in the spring, Pinot Grigio in the summer and Merlot during the autumn and winter months.

Yves Hohler, Lead Designer and Co-founder of Broken Arm Games, said “Britain is one of the largest importers of wine, taking in over $4 billion worth of crates, bags and bottles in 2020.  Yet, our research shows that the nation is largely shying away from expanding their wine repertoire and are stuck in a wine rut - making the same purchases over and over again.

“We created our new mobile winemaking simulator ‘Hundred Days’ to entertain wine lovers by giving them a taste of a vineyard owner's lifestyle and showcase the vast array of different wines available today - to hopefully inspire and tempt people to venture out of their comfort zone.”
