THE seven-day Covid-19 case rates in Cheshire East and Cheshire West are both rising after almost 2,000 new cases were reported in each borough over the last week.
In the latest 24-hour period, between 4pm on December 6 and 4pm on December 7,a total of 534 people tested positive for coronavirus in Mid Cheshire.
According to figures released by Public Health England, this is made up of 330 new cases in Cheshire West and 204 cases in Cheshire East.
This takes the respective boroughs' totals since the pandemic began to 56,091 in Cheshire West and 59,261 in Cheshire East.
The latest daily update means 1,867 new cases have been recorded in Cheshire West in the last week, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 543.0 per 100,000 of the population.
In Cheshire East, there have been 1,850 new cases in the last seven days taking the borough's case rate to 473.4 per 100,000.
Nationally, there were 45,691 new Covid cases recorded in the latest 24-hour period.
