The 'Threads Through Creation' exhibition continues its three-year national tour at Chester Cathedral on Wednesday, 12 January.
The project will see a sequence of 12 silk panels installed at the cathedral, each standing at 2.7m tall and 3.5m wide, depicting the story of creation as found in the opening pages of the Bible. Artist Jacqui Parkinson has spent three years, used miles of thread and eight million stitches to bring the panels to life. It is one of the largest ever textile projects by a single artist.
Threads Through Creation describe the work as follows: "The sequence starts with bold simple elements and develops into a riot of colour and pattern, as the viewer comes into the Garden of Eden. As well as painting an amazing big picture, it is full of delightful and often funny details."
The exhibition is on until March 1. Further details can be found at www.creation-threads.co.uk or www.jacqui-textile.com/creation/.
