The First Tarvin Scouts and Guides are gearing up to raise money this weekend for those affected by Russia's war with Ukraine.
The Scout group are keen to show their support and solidarity with the victims of the conflict with a coffee morning fundraiser this Saturday 12 March. The event will be held at the Scout and Guide building on King George V Playing Fields, Townfield lane from 10am until 12.30pm.
Donations will be collected on the door with free tea, coffee and cakes available. Activities such as flag making and friendship knots in the colours of the Ukrainian flag will also be open for parents and children to get involved in, for a small additional cost.
There will also be a raffle, with all the proceeds for the event going to the Red Cross Ukraine Disasters Aid Committee where they will be matched pound for pound by the government.
Assistant Group Scout Leader, Jo Richards, said: "Scouting and Guiding is part of a global family and our children and young people stand with the children, young people and families in Ukraine who are suffering so much.
"We are just doing what we can as a village. We have a really big community here with Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides from the ages of 6 to 14 and they care very much about what's happening."
The group have also received several donations from other local organisations and are grateful for the togetherness and support that has helped bring the event together.
"It's not just our Scouts and Guides, all of the other organisations have given vital donations towards this. This is a whole community working together to try and help people who badly need it."
