AN adventure filmmaker who has worked in the freezing winds of the Arctic and the depths of the Amazon jungle will be speaking at Chester Storyhouse on April 6.

Matt Pycroft has negotiated thousand-foot drops, tarantulas, snakes and hidden crevasses all whilst attempting to capture top-quality film footage.

Speaking as part of the Kendal Mountain Festival UK Tour, he will share the joys and occasional moments of terror that make up an adventure cameraman's life.

An expert at filming in remote and inhospitable locations and often accompanying world-class climber Leo Houlding, Pycroft says wryly "Things don't always go according to plan."

Next month's event also features a collection of the world's best short adventure films for audiences to watch on the big screen.

Steve Scott, director of Kendal Mountain Festival and presenter of the Tour events said: "'Kendal' is all about adventure; stories of extreme human endurance, breathtaking environments and adrenaline-fuelled excitement.

"Our Tour events are mini-Festivals that distil this spirit of adventure and exploration into one unique evening."

Tickets are available via the Tour website kendalmountaintour.com/tickets or by calling the Storyhouse box office on 01244 409 113.
