THE LITTLE SUTTON community group is holding their 4th annual scarecrow festival this June.
Positive Action for Little Sutton (PALS) was set up to try and get people to do small things to try and make life better.
The founder of PALS, Stephen Hewitt, said: “Over the years, we’ve done events such as litter picking and planted daffodils and bluebells around the village.”
Stephen had seen scarecrow festivals across other locations and decided to bring it to Little Sutton in 2019.
All the village got involved with events such as a coffee morning at the Methodist Church and a BBQ Day organised by the Scouts Group taking place during the week.
An interactive map was created so that people could pin where their scarecrow had been placed.
Families and locals could then use their phones to visit the pins on the map when ‘scarecrow spotting’.
In their first year, over 200 scarecrows were pinned across the area.
Stephen then decided to make it an annual event, taking place in the final week of June.
Previously, scarecrows have been pinned in areas such Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port, Childer Thornton and Great Sutton.
He said: “Our aim this year is to have 500 scarecrows pinned on the map, which would just be amazing.
“We’re not in any way stopping anyone having fun. If they want to build a scarecrow and join in their more the merrier, we’re not putting geographical limits on it.”
It’s not too late to build a scarecrow and add it to the map if you want to get involved.
