CHILDREN at a Chester primary school are celebrating success in a local sporting competition.
Pupils from Hoole Church of England Primary School were victorious in a tri-golf competition organised by the local schools’ sport partnership at Westminster Park golf course in Chester. A team of children participated in the event and were awarded first place overall.
PE leader at the school, Elaine Kelly, said: “We have run an after-school golf club earlier in this academic year in line with our commitment to children accessing and engaging in a range of sports opportunities.
"We are delighted by how confidently the children approached this competition despite many of our pupils having had limited experience in golf. They showed the values we promote at our school by persevering, showing enthusiasm, positive sportsmanship and by letting their lights shine brightly.”
Sporting activities are very high on the agenda at the school over this term with arrangements for sports fortnight in July being finalised and the school looking forward to the official opening of the new all-weather 4G pitch.
