EMERGENCY repairs to a section of the M56 motorway are causing significant delays for motorists today (Tuesday, June 7).
The roadworks are taking place on the westbound carriageway, where a defect has been reported between junctions 12 (Runcorn) and 14 (Hapsford Services).
As a result, long tailbacks are being reported on the motorway beyond junction 11, with at least 30 minutes of delays.
The reason is lanes 1 and 2 of the westbound carriageway have been closed to allow works to take place.
Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journey.
