NEW images showing what a new £5 million Chester city centre hotel and spa will look like have been revealed – as well as a new opening date for the accompanying restaurant.
The Wildes Hotel Group is transforming a site on Bridge Street, Chester into a hotel, restaurant and space, all of which is now set to open in spring 2023.
Previously, it had been envisaged that the development would open later this year, before developers made changes to the plans and pushed back the opening date of the boutique hotel and spa to 2023.
Now it has been confirmed the X by Harry Guy restaurant, which had originally been due to open in September, will now also open its doors in spring 2023.
This much-anticipated £5 million development will feature 18 unique bedrooms, a spa with rooftop pool overlooking the city and a restaurant and bar by chef Harry Guy, as well as outdoor seating set within the historic Rows of Chester, with views of the famous Eastgate Street clock.
X by Harry Guy is undergoing extensive design transformations, with the ‘experience’ restaurant now sitting across two floors.
The latest CGI mock-ups of the interiors of the contemporary hotel, spa and restaurant reflect the transformation of one of Chester’s longest standing buildings. Inspired by the Bridge Street building’s rich history, the renovation of the 18 en-suite bedrooms feature unique and individual designs.
A theatrical curtain frames the entrance to a beautiful staircase, decorated in a deep colour palette and Victorian metro tiles. In addition to the extensive spa, additional treatment rooms, thermal suite with a panoramic sauna, guests will enjoy a rooftop pool overlooking Chester city centre.
The team behind the development includes interior designers SpaceInvader, alongside architect firm, David Cox Architects.
David Cox, director at David Cox Architects, said: "Retaining the architectural integrity of this iconic listed building has been a priority consideration during the design development.
"We've been working within the constraints of the existing building structure to maximise the very best use of space to create a luxurious experience for guests, whether they are staying in one of the luxurious suites or popping in for a cocktail.
"The proposed spa/pool and restaurant will be an exceptional asset to Wildes Chester, both of which will celebrate a touch of indulgence in the heart of the city.”
SpaceInvader Founder John Williams added: “Projects like this don’t come around very often. Both Paul Wildes and Harry Guy have such a strong vision for this project, whilst the setting, in Chester’s famous Rows, couldn’t be more special.
"For the design team, it’s all about doing the building proud, making Paul and Harry proud and delivering a truly stand-out new hotel and hospitality destination for the inhabitants of and visitors to the historic heart of Chester.”
