CHESHIRE-BASED flooring specialist Tedd Todd has launched a new sustainable natural flooring brand which minimises waste created by through production.
The company say that Karta will be a responsible alternative to single use vinyl or carpet. Each product from the four new ranges maximises the usage and yield of the raw material and is fully biodegradable.
Tedd Todd now boasts three brands which centre around sustainable production, including Woodworks, which is the world leader in reclaimed and antique wood flooring.
Karta’s seven unique designs are remastered from reclaimed and restored floors by sister brand Woodworks and are specifically designed for commercial use in spaces like universities, hospitality businesses and workplaces.
Each design holds a story, with the four Karta ranges named after the original reclamation site; Old War Office, St George’s, Vodka Oak and Loco Works.
Tedd Todd say that the Karta brand uses 30 times less energy to produce than vinyl and other plastic based floors and is carbon negative. The boards are commercially durable with a matt finish rating of AC5 and a high-performance coating abrasion-resistance of 6000 revolutions.
Founder Robert Walsh commented on the launch: "This is an incredibly exciting time for Ted Todd, as leaders in the luxury wood floor market, launching this unique brand-new product to market is really exciting.
"We’ve taken our decades of expertise in designing reclaimed and engineered wood flooring to launch an innovative range that achieves the environmental benefits of a wood floor, for the price of a synthetic one.
"Karta is the perfect choice for design professionals and contractors looking to balance aesthetics and high quality with cost requirements. At the Ted Todd group, we pride ourselves on creating sustainable, beautiful wood floors in impactful designs, so we’re certain that Karta will change the flooring market forever."
