MANY across the borough captured stunning footage of the thunder and lightning as is lit up the sky last night.
Cheshire West saw thunderstorms throughout Monday evening (September 5) as the Met Office issued a yellow warning across parts of north-west England, parts of Wales, south-west England, southern England, and the West Midlands.
BBC meteorologist Matt Taylor had tweeted on Monday morning: "Over 36 thousand lightning strikes were recorded in and around the UK in just 12 hours.
"More thunderstorms possible later today in southern areas."
Gary Davies, a member of The Standard's Camera Club, recorded the scene from his garden as the storms rumbled and flashed above the region.
The storms were also captured above the River Mersey in Ellesmere Port by Ellesmere Port Waterfront on Twitter.

Jennie Harper also took some incredible pictures and video footage with multiple lightning strikes criss-crossing the lens.
There is currently no indication from the Met Office that there will be any further weather warnings this evening.
