PEOPLE in Ellesmere Port got into the full Halloween spirit yesterday (October, 31), creating spooktacular displays outside their homes.

Many properties in the area had lights, sound and props outside their home for the trick-or-treaters to feast their eyes on.

Here is a look at some of the best-decorated Halloween houses in Ellesmere Port, sent in by Globe readers.

Nicky Bates, 48, lives at The Crescent in Ellesmere Port.

Her 12-year-old son, Lewis Bates Maxwell, enjoys decorating their home each year.

She said: “He loves Halloween more than Christmas. He does the decorating and I help.

“He loves the reaction  of the little kids and to see them enjoying it.”

She decided to decorate her house this year as it was her first Halloween in her new home.

Speaking to the Globe, she said: “Before we lived here, we were on the 8th floor, so our kids couldn’t really decorate.

“We wanted it to be the best we could do for our kids' first Halloween in our new house.”

Karen Laidlaw, 43, began decorating the outside of her house in the weeks leading up to Halloween 22 years ago with her children.

Her house is located on Regent Street.

She said: “I wanted to do my Halloween for food banks this year, to help families who are really struggling.”

This is also Karen’s final year decorating her house for Halloween.

Claire Pearce, 34, lives on Waverton Road.

She cares for her autistic son and pre-pandemic decorated her house ever year to raise money for charity.

This year she went all out decorating her home.

Caroline Cohen, 43, and her husband Kevin Mansell, 44, did a ‘Stranger Things’ themed set outside their home this Halloween.

Their house, which is on Windsor Drive, Whitby, got lots of attention from the local community.

Speaking to the Globe, Caroline said: “The road that we live on is a school road and we just love watching the kids when they are coming to school and leaving at the end of the day.

“They just run up to the house and love it. We love seeing their faces and hearing them say every year ‘this house is really good.”

Chester and District Standard:

Caroline was raising money for Jackson’s Animal Rescue and raised a total of £560.

Mark Modyman decorated his house with incredible lights and sound.

The house, on Straker Avenue, had spooky sound effects and a skeleton in the driver's seat of their car.

Kimberley Modyman, wrote on Faceook: "Thank you to everyone that came tonight and travelled to have a look!

"Had a good laugh and met some great people. We hope to see you all next year, it will be even better!"
