A "SERIOUS incident" has closed a section of the A55 Expressway near Chester this afternoon (Monday, January 16).
The incident has been reported on the sliproad heading on to the A55, towards North Wales, from the Sainsbury's Roundabout at junction 39.
North West Motorway Police and Cheshire Fire and rescue Service are currently dealing with the incident, which was first reported at about 4.10pm. The emergency services have said that section of road is closed, at the junction with the A41.
Police say the area "will be closed for some time".
In addition, the force has said vehicles will not be able to exit the Boughton Heath Park and Ride facility "for the time being".
Motorists are being urged to find another route if possible, or to make other travel plans.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have reported that one fire engine from Audlem and another from Runcorn have been deployed to the incident. Those engines were covering for Chester, which had been deployed to the incident in Farndon.
A spokesperson said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision where a car has left the roadway.
"Firefighters are preparing to extricate a casualty from the vehicle which has collided with a bridge. Ambulance staff are also in attendance and liaising with the crews."
