CHESHIRE firefighters are heading to Turkey as part of a relief effort following the devastating earthquake.
Four Cheshire firefighters, including one from Chester Fire Station, will be travelling to Turkey as part of a UK-wide team aiding in the earthquake search and rescue mission.
The team are part of the UK International Search and Rescue team, are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to humanitarian accidents or disasters anywhere in the world, to provide a search and rescue facility.
The team is made up of, Ian Wilson (Lymm), Dan Reid (Penketh), John Monaghan (Penketh), and Andy Clarke (Chester)
Reports claim more than 11,000 people have died at the time of writing, following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria.
A further tens of thousands have been injured, with a number remaining missing in the wreckage of collapsed homes.

Thousands of buildings have collapsed across both countries following the disaster.
