A CHESTER-BASED community gallery championing emerging artists will host its Spring Open Evening later this month.
Art Box, in Boughton, Chester, will open open its door to the public on Wednesday, April 26, from 5pm - 8pm.
Displaying the work of more than 45 local artists, the Spring Open Evening will showcase more than 150 original paintings, limited edition prints and photography.
Liz Dunning, the Art Box Gallery Manager and Curator said: "We are looking forward to welcoming the people of Chester and beyond to see the new work on display, meet the artists and enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival."
Local artists who are currently exhibiting their works, include Luke Sturgess who was recently chosen as the Wild Card winner on this year’s Sky Arts programme, ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’. Luke’s piece depicting Blackpool Pier is available to buy as a Limited Edition print from Art Box. Luke is still only 17 years old and is currently studying for his A-Levels before he hopes to study Art at University.
The youngest artist displaying his work within the Art Box gallery is Charlie, aged 7.
Art Box has recently joined forces with The Chester Grosvenor where four Art Box artists are displaying their works within the Westminster Suite.
"As the only gallery in Chester specifically created to exhibit artwork by local emerging artists, we are delighted to collaborate with The Chester Grosvenor to further support and promote talented artists within Chester," said Liz.
More events are planned throughout the spring and summer in conjunction with The Wine School of Cheshire, including wine tastings and food pairings events to be held in ‘The Wine Garden’, a walled garden to the rear of Art Box’s premises at 96 Boughton, in Chester.
The gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10am - 4pm each week and visitors are welcome to pop in to find out more about the artwork and its creators. The gallery will continue to arrange events throughout the year and it is hoped that as many people as possible will attend the Spring Open Evening.
