AN Ellesmere Port leisure centre's expansion proposal to include a new spa garden has been given the green light by planners.
David Lloyd Leisure on Stanney Lane sought to extend the rear of its premises to include a new spa garden, which would feature a hydro pool, firepit and sauna.
A planning statement, submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council, said the new features would "enhance and complement David Lloyd’s existing facilities at the site. There is demand from existing and potential users for improvements to these facilities."
A design and access statement on behalf of David Lloyd Leisure added: "The club currently does not offer a spa garden feature and has limited spa facilities. There have been considerable requests for an improvement to the facilities and this proposal aims to address these requests.
"It is proposed to build a new internal and external spa facility in close proximity to the existing pool hall. The area chosen for the spa extension is an existing service area and outdoor terrace."
The spa garden would feature timber fencing, stone panels, a spa pool finished in slate chippings and low-intensity light during the evening.
As part of the plans, six small trees would be removed.
Cheshire West and Chester Council approved the plans, subject to conditions.
One of the conditions was that the trees removed would be would be replaced by double the number lost.
