A COUPLE who tragically lost their first baby at 41 weeks are holding a special day in memory of him.

Jessica Taylor, 23, from Eastham and Ryan Hazlehurst, 28, from Leasowe, welcomed their first baby, Jaxton-Luke Hazlehurst on January, 11 2023.

Jaxton was sadly stillborn at 41 weeks gestation in Arrowe Park Hospital.

Ryan's sister-in-law, Nicola Knowles, 28, spoke about how Jessica was "super excited to be a new mum" but was tragically told Jaxton had no heartbeat.

She said: "Jessica went into labour and upon arrival at maternity triage she was told that Jaxton had no heartbeat.

"Jessica and Ryan stayed with Jaxton in the Butterfly Suite to spend some quality time with him after his birth."

Family Fun Day

Jessica and Ryan, along with help from Nicola, are holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 1 to raise funds for the Sands charity, following the tragic loss of Jaxton.

Sands exists to reduce the number of babies dying and to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.

Nicola added: "This fundraising day is something really positive for both parents to put their grief and time into creating something positive in Jaxton’s name and memory.

"Equally, this fundraising day is to raise vital funds for Sands to enable them to continue supporting families that have too, unfortunately, experienced a still birth, or a neo-natal death."

The Family Fun Day, at New Ferry Village Hall, will host face painting, a bouncy castle, go karts, a DJ, raffles, a tombola, and lots of sweet treats.

The public event will run from 1pm-6pm.
