Two CARE homes are planning a series of lovely activities this weekend to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
Chapel House Nursing Home and Plessington Court Residential Home in Puddington are gearing up for the big weekend.
Activity coordinator Geraldine Button will be working with residents to create a memories poster full of recollections of the Queen’s Coronation.
Her Majesty was crowned on June 2, 1953, in Westminster Abbey, where her son will be anointed as monarch on Saturday.
Staff and residents will follow the live television coverage and raise a toast to the new King. They’ll follow this with a celebratory afternoon tea with home-made cakes.
Geraldine Button said: “It’s going to be a lovely weekend and the residents are very excited about following the Coronation celebrations on television.
“We thought it would be fun to have our own various Coronation celebrations throughout the weekend too.
"On Sunday, we’ll be asking residents to write a postcard from London imagining they were there on the day and asking them what they saw, heard and felt.
“On Bank Holiday Monday, we’re planning to open our new commemorative Coronation flower bed, full of red, white and blue flowers, in honour of King Charles III.
"Then we’ll have a final toast with some celebratory quiche and a shandy.”
Chapel House Care is a family business which was established in 1987 by the Moore family.
