THOUSANDS of punters have braved stormy weather as Chester Races made its return to the city for 2023.
Rain didn't spoil the parade as crowds dressed their best for the first meeting, the Boodles May Festival City Day on Wednesday, May 10.
The first of three days of racing saw, in the first race, a 'Ziggy's 1-2' with Ziggy's Phoenix beating Ziggy's Dream. Further racing will take place throughout the afternoon.
The rest of the week's meetings will feature Ladies Day on Thursday, May 11, followed by the Tote Chester Cup Day on Friday.
At the end of the month, the Tote Roman Day takes place on Saturday, May 27.
