A LUXURY hotel in the heart of Chester is set to host a series of wine tasting events over the coming months - exploring some of the finest wines and how they complement gourmet cuisine.

Starting in June, running all the way through to November, the five-star Chester Grosvenor, is thrilled to announce a luxurious series of wine events that will celebrate a different region on each occasion.

The events are set to take place in the hotel's 3 AA Rosette restaurant, Arkle, promising an unforgettable insight into the world of fine wines and refined dining — with guest sommeliers and experienced staff on hand to guide guests through the evening.

Arkle's exceptional wine selection has seen it advance to the final round of the 2023-2024 AA Wine Award sponsored by Matthew Clark, following its previous recognition as a recipient of the prestigious AA Notable Wine List Award.

The hotel will be kicking things off with a whistle stop tour of Spain in an event called ‘Ramble Around Spain’. On June 1, guests can enjoy a journey to the North of Spain, exploring a group of family-owned wineries dating back to 1879, where they will experience a traditional versus modern-day four-course menu with a wine flight.

Guests will be able to indulge in a selection of canapés with a glass of English sparkling wine from Gusbourne, the hotel's British wine partner on June 15. This is followed by a four-course seasonal set menu and accompanying wines from the wider Gusbourne collection. A representative from Gusbourne will guide guests through each wine and offer a short history of the winery.

Third in the series, the hotel will welcome Zuccardi, an award-winning producer of mountain wines from Argentina. Having been named winner of ‘The World's Best Vineyard’ award for three years in a row and now the only member in ‘The World’s Best Vineyard’ Hall of Fame, on July 2, guests can expect to enjoy a four-course menu with a showstopping wine flight.

Finally, on the September 14, the hotel will be celebrating the renowned region of Burgundy in France, as it plays host to Louis Jadot, which has been fine-tuning its craft for 164 years. Again, guests will enjoy a four-course tasting menu handcrafted by Executive Chef Elliot Hill and his talented team, with an accompanying wine flight that interacts with each flavour.

Boris Filip, Head Sommelier at The Chester Grosvenor, commented: "We are absolutely delighted to have such a great line-up of wine-based events in the coming months and thrilled to be welcoming some of the world’s most renowned wineries. At The Chester Grosvenor, we take great pride in offering the ultimate wine pairings to enhance each dish and we are excited to be sharing these selections with our guests on these special wine dinners."

Steve Ogden, General Manager at The Chester Grosvenor, added: "Our aim is always to create a memorable experience for our guests, and our latest series of events will bring together the finest wines and expert knowledge within an elegant setting. As we are a five-star establishment, we aim to ensure guests are always provided with a five-star service, with the wine events offering a unique opportunity to discover new flavours and learn more about the intricacy of fine dining and accompanying wine flights."
