A NEW café which will provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism has opened its doors at Ellesmere Port Library.
Diverse Dine, which is run by Vivo - a care service from Cheshire West and Chester Council, will not only offer delicious and healthy food, but will also provide a training and development environment for those who access Vivo's services.
The name of the café has been inspired by Vivo’s Diverse Designs shop, which was based at the Forum Shopping Centre and will soon be moving to the Little Roodee Café in Chester.
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: "This is a fantastic development for both visitors at the library and people who access Vivo’s services.
"Vivo has run plenty of similar successful projects elsewhere in the borough, including the Little Roodee Café, Diverse Designs shop and Chat ‘N’ Chill Café in Ellesmere Port.
"It’s great to see Vivo and our Libraries team working closely together to bring this initiative to life.
"There are so many opportunities that Diverse Dine will provide for people with learning disabilities and it’ll hopefully help them on their journey to gaining future supported volunteering and employment."
Diverse Dine will be open at Ellesmere Port Library from 10am to 3pm on Monday to Friday, while the library itself can be accessed at the following times:
• Monday, Thursday and Friday – 9am to 7pm
• Tuesday and Wednesday – 9am to 5pm
• Saturday – 9am to 1pm
