A CHESTER suburb is ready to celebrate summer in style with a street party.
Following the success of last year's Jubilee Street Party, organised by Handbridge Community Association, a family-friendly event will take place in Handbridge on Sunday, June 25, from 11am-6pm.
The main road between The Ship Inn, by the Old Dee Bridge, and the Handbridge pub will be closed for the duration of the event, which is expected to attract hundreds of residents and visitors.
There will be artisan stalls, street food, arts and crafts and entertainment for all ages.
Foodies will find a variety of cuisines on offer including a barbecue from Edge & Son Butchers, Ruan Orchid and teas and cakes served in St Mary’s Handbridge Centre from noon to 4pm. Local favourites The Ship Inn and The Grosvenor Arms pub will be serving as usual along with Chester Beer & Wine.
After shopping for gifts and treats at the artisan stalls visitors can enjoy a full line-up of entertainment on the main stage in the Co-op car park with live music from local artists including House of Dance and Two Dead Ends.
For younger visitors, there will be face painting and children’s fairground rides too.
Steve Hart, chair of the Handbridge Community Association, said: "Following the success of last year's Jubilee Street Party we had many requests from residents and businesses to make it an annual event. So, we’re back by popular demand and are delighted to be holding the Summer Festival in Handbridge.
"This event would not be possible without the support of volunteers and local businesses, our sponsors Deva Leisure, HL Financial, Simply Accounts and Smart Exterior Cleaning and Maintenance, and I would like to thank them all."
