A MAJOR emergency services response was called out to an evening incident on a canal in Ellesmere Port.
Four fire engines from Ellesmere Port, Chester and Powey Lane, plus a boat unit and aerial appliance attended the scene in South Pier Road at about 9pm yesterday (Saturday, June 24).
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used a water rescue boat to rescue an individual from the Manchester Ship Canal.
"After they were removed from the water, they were handed into the care of paramedics."
