COME rain or shine, thousands of punters revelled in racing action at Chester Racecourse this weekend.
Trainer Andrew Balding and jockey David Probert celebrated some big successes on Clogau City Plate Day on Saturday.
Welsh jockey Probert sparkled, riding a three-timer on the Roodee.
Holguin took the jewel of the day, the Raymond & Kathleen Corbett Memorial City Plate Stakes, under a masterful ride down the outside from Probert, with Loaded Gun another of his successes in the The Rio Steakhouse Chester EBF Novice Stakes.
Victories on those two horses both came for trainer Andrew Balding, who achieved his 100th and 101st winners at Chester Racecourse.
David Probert’s other winning ride on the afternoon came for another trainer, Charles Hills, on Divine Libra in the Edinburgh Gin Handicap Stakes.
Elsewhere, Emiyn took the Clogau Handicap Stakes with Zak Wheatley in the saddle, while Red Royalist and Auld Toon Loon won the Printworks Apprentice Handicap Stakes and The Camden Town Handicap Stakes, respectively.
Saturday’s action followed a thrilling Camden Town Brewery Ladies & Gents Evening on Friday, where the Ian Williams-trained Dream Harder won the feature race of the night, the Expleo Handicap Stakes.
Next up at Chester Racecourse is Family Day on Sunday, August 6, with a host of activities taking place for children on the Open Course.
