A MEMBER of staff working at Creamfields was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

An air ambulance was dispatched to attend the site of the music festival on Monday following reports of a security guard being injured.

The helimed arrived at the Daresbury site off Chester Road shortly before 5pm.

It is believed the worker was involved in cleaning up the site following the end of the four-day event which attracted around 70,000 revellers.

Festivalgoers were reportedly prevented from leaving while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 4.50pm on Monday, August 28, a member of security staff at Creamfields was injured while clearing the site.

“Police and the local authority are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

“The casualty remains in a serious condition in hospital.”

A Halton Borough Council spokesman said: "Halton Borough Council’s environmental health department is investigating the workplace health and safety aspects of this incident alongside the investigation by Cheshire Police.

"We are unable to comment any further at this stage."

North West Ambulance Service was also approached for a statement in relation to the incident.

A spokesman confirmed that a man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
