A GROUP of Travellers who had set up an unauthorised encampment at the Wrexham Road Park and Ride site in Chester have now vacated the area.
The group set up camp on October 7, with seven caravans estimated to be camped on the Council-owned land in Lache.
A Section 60c notice - which relates to residing on land without consent in or with a vehicle - was then served by Cheshire Police on October 9, ordering the group to leave the area by 12pm the following day.
Failing to comply with this order gives the police powers to seize and potentially impound the caravans under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.
A similar unauthorised encampment on Vauxhall Supply Park in Ellesmere Port was also vacated today, with seven caravans leaving the privately-owned land after setting up camp yesterday (Wednesday, October 11).
