TRAVELLERS have set up an unauthorised encampment at a park and ride site in Chester.
Council-owned land at Boughton Heath Park and Ride carpark has become the site of a unauthorised settlement which includes two caravans.
The group of Travellers arrived at the site on Friday, November 21, and an officer from the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team (CWTT) is scheduled to attend the site for a review.
An unauthorised encampment refers to caravans or other vehicles which are occupying land without the landowner or occupier's consent and constituting trespass. These can be on local authority land or private land.
The CWTT assesses unauthorised encampments and can agree on a mutually acceptable deadline by which the group must leave.
If this is surpassed, further action, such as a court order may be sought.
